Doubled, down.

So after what seems like months of hype, the KFC double down is a reality, and you can experience it for a mere $4.99. Well, maybe. Depending on your luck.

Brady and I started our ill fated idea to buy this slice of over indulgence last Thursday, it eventually got pushed back until tonight. We walked in with about ten minutes until the lobby closed. We thought it would be a quick in and out trip, we would choke the sandwich down and be on our way.

Turns out that the chicken breasts at KFC take about 15 minutes to cook. That is, if there is no other chicken cooking when your initial estimate is given. Turns out it was closer to 35 minutes for us.

Now, you have to think that this piece of culinary… something, would be worth the 35 minute wait that a decent pizza would take, or even better a good steak knowing full well that those items would be well over $4.99 plus applicable taxes would be worth it, but it wasn’t.

The chicken wasn’t crispy, the bacon wasn’t either, the pepper jack cheese was far from peppery and the Colonel’s Sauce was too sweet, the sandwich was a cluster cluck. That’s right I went there. It was plain overload and my tastebuds didn’t know what to do with it.

Worth it? Maybe. Only if you too get to wait 30+ minutes for a sandwich that is tasteless, and will surely shorten your lifespan by the bite. If your order taker looks like she honestly gave up meth anywhere from 1 to 4 weeks ago, and is possibly violating some form of parole by working past dusk.

Ultimately the experience was worth it. For the story, and the fact that it’s done. I’ve experienced some form of disgusting Americanism, the kind that keeps us in bad graces with most of the world. It’s something to tell your grandkids about. Surely this will be the last fast food concoction of it’s kind.

Go ahead America, prove me wrong.

Quit being a girl, Rosstopher! They’re the artery clogging shiz! Jason wants to see if he can eat 3 at one sitting. After having recently seen his life insurance policy, I’m all for it.

Girly? Nah, I don’t see it that way at all. I just felt like it didn’t live up to the hype, for me to pretend would be false, and thats not what I want to do.
